May River Mermaid

Here she is - on land for a few moments to be photographed - a beauty from out of the famous May River in Bluffton, SC.  She can hang on your tree or your wall.  There has been much attention lovingly paid to this girl.  She has a real shell bra that "ties" in the back, and she sports a "pearl" choker and drop earrings.  Her hair is nautical looking rope and she holds a pretty shell.  Her fins are hand textured.  Each upper and lower eyelash has been seperately attached.  She gets two separate coats of oil paint, and has been through numerous firings. A really unique piece for a gift or for yourself.  See the other ornaments in my Shabby Crab collection, on this blog, Facebook, Flickr, and my Eclectic Eagle and Bohemian Romantic blogs.

one flirty fish

This is the flirty fish I began a few weeks ago.  With my husband's back issues, the illness and passing of my beloved Yorkie, Pepper, the humongous rattle snake who decided to live outside our front door, and more exciting occurrences, I just revived her, gave her color, and here she is.  She now resides in the Fishbone Gallery on Calhoun Street in Bluffton.  I will take orders via this site but must have plenty of notice for Christmas.  No two pieces are ever alike, so there will be variance in the color, details, etc.

She is the first in a series of sea characters transformed into hanging ornaments.  Coming up soon (in other words, I am in the midst of their creation) will be shrimp, oysters, octopi, crabs, egrets, starfish, mermaids, and probably more I'm not recalling at the moment.  Many of them will be featured at Fishbone.  Visit during the Art and Seafood Festival coming up mid-October!
